Chapel Series
2010-2012 | tissue paper, book pages, fishing line, hardware
For a single week each, forgotten childhood breathed new vitality into overlooked spaces.
Innocent delights, like bright tissue paper and adventure books, hovered above these quiet spaces, then disappeared like a warm memory. Each installation was methodically created using hand-placed materials. Artwork was installed over a single night and opened to no fanfare. Surprised viewers reactions were similar to how one might behave in a cathedral. Reactions included sitting, staring, meditation, prayer, and hushed conversation although no such instructions were given.
The series of installations occurred between 2010-2012 throughout Wichita, Kansas.
